Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 Spied Coupe Showcases Sleek Performance SUV

A few days after seeing the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, we can now see it in the guise of the ultimate AMG 63. Here’s a chance to see how the company differentiates its sportiest models from its lesser models.

Up front, the GLC 63 has a more aggressive front fascia. The development team covered it in this vehicle, but the size and location of the openings on the sides are obvious. As on other AMG vehicles during testing, this one has an egg crate grille instead of vertical blades for the production version.

The GLC 63 rides on wheels with a V-shaped array of spokes and a glossy black finish. The brake rotor is drilled, and there are red calipers.

The body style of the GLC coupe has diagonal creases in front of the rear wheels. This element is absent from the version with a boxier exterior.

At the rear, this vehicle uses a spoiler under the rear window. Underneath the bumper, there are a pair of trapezoidal exhaust outlets coming out from each side. This design is a common element for 63 Mercedes-AMG branded products.

We expect this model to share a powertrain with the new C 63. This model has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an electrically assisted turbo and a rear-mounted electric motor. In total, the powertrain produces 671 horsepower (500 kilowatts) and 752 pound-feet (1,020 Newton-meters) of torque.

The sedan reaches 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 174 mph (280 kph). With the different builds, we were expecting a similar but not identical figure for the GLC Coupe.

The lower GLC 43 is also on its way. As in the C 43, the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine will produce 402 hp (300 kW) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm).

It’s unclear when the new GLC Coupe will debut. The speculation is that at least a non-AMG version will be on sale in some markets by 2023.
