Challenger SRT Super Stock Drag Races Other Hellcats, Camaro, SRT-4

The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon took the drag strip by storm when it debuted for the 2018 model year. The 2020 Challenger SRT Super Stock isn’t a Demon, but its 807-horsepower Hellcat V8 and factory drag slick make it a factory-ready machine for a quarter mile. We don’t see them often, so catching one in their natural habitat is a bit refreshing.

Also, it could give us a little preview for the recently debuted Dodge Challenger Black Ghost. Part of Dodge’s Last call series for the Challenger and Charger, it has the same supercharged 807-hp engine but lacks the sticky radial drag. With grip, making 10-second quarter-mile passes shouldn’t be a problem in stock trim. We’re not sure if the Challenger Super Stock is in this video, well, supply. But it wears the Devil’s hood and has absolutely no problem ripping off 10s… and then some.

The video clip is from Drag Racing and Item Cars YouTube channel, with action taking place on the Orlando Speed World dragway. The first race for the Super Stock was the Camaro ZL1 which we suspect was unmodified, as it ran 12.69 at 112 mph. Meanwhile, the Challenger went a straight 10.02, clocking a speed of 136 mph in the process.

Normally, we’d cover these races in order, but we’ll jump ahead in a Super Stock fight with a pair of Hellcats. The first is the Plum Crazy Challenger, and it could be the best race of the entire event. The Super Stock driver was left dead at launch, and it looks like Purple Challenger is driving to win. But Super Stock slipped late with a 9.81-second pass.

The black Charger Hellcat was next, and it was also a very close race but again, Super Stock won. It’s a battle won in the first half of the track as well, as the Charger hits 145 mph in the quarter mile to 139 mph for the Challenger. However, the Super Stock ran in 9.8 seconds versus 10.1 for the Hellcat sedan.

Now for the race we skipped. In the midst of all this V8 rumbling comes the heroic hum of the four turbocharged cylinders, powering the front wheels of the Dodge Neon. Yes, this is an SRT-4, and no, it is not stock. We won’t tell you which car won this battle, but we will tell you as much. At the end of the quarter mile, this little Neon went 143 mph. Win or lose, that’s very impressive.
