As if winning his first Cup Series race wasn’t impressive enough, NASCAR Chevy driver Carson Hocevar had to dig in and beat the racers. after checkered flag too.
At Talladega on April 26thth2026, NASCAR Chevy Camaro ZL1 No. Hocevar’s No. 77 took the lead with 19 laps remaining and never looked back. He even maintained his position at the top after a late-race caution and subsequent restart, fending off an attack from Chris Buescher’s Ford as they raced toward the checkers. When the flag dropped and the 188-lap contest was over, Hocevar beat Buescher by just 0.114 seconds.
After retiring the No. 77, Hocevar appears to be busy with something while sitting on the window sill of a race car. Then, after a few minutes, his intentions became clear as he drove the Camaro around for a unique celebration. Still perched on the windowsill, Hocevar took a lap in front of the grandstands, taking both hands off the wheel to elicit cheers from the crowd as he celebrated his first win in three years at NASCAR’s top level.

“I’ve been thinking about this for a long time,” Hocevar said. “And I’ve screwed it up to the point where I can’t do it. And I don’t care if it takes me 20 minutes or whatever. I’ll figure out a way to do it.”
He added, “I’m so grateful. This is the biggest dream I’ve ever thought of. Thank you all. I couldn’t have done it any better. Hopefully my grandpa noticed. My grandma passed away last year and I’m so grateful to be able to give my grandpa the trophy now.”
Hocevar has been ruffling feathers over the past few years due to his rough driving style and unapologetic attitude. But he certainly won over some fans at the ‘Dega, and fellow NASCAR Chevy driver Alex Bowman – who returned to a race car after missing several weeks due to lingering vertigo – praised him.
“He definitely deserved it and this was the perfect place for him to get it,” said Bowman, who finished third.
