- Kia has delayed the 2026 EV6 GT in the United States ‘due to changing market conditions’.
- Kia makes its high-performance trim in South Korea.
- This delay does not affect the rest of the EV6 lineup that Kia makes in the United States.
If you’re hoping to buy a new, high-performance Kia EV, you’re out of luck. At least, for now. The automaker has temporarily stopped offering the EV6 GT in the United States for the foreseeable future.
In a statement shared with Roads & TracksKia said that “due to changing market conditions, the 2026 EV6 GT will be delayed until further notice.” Kia did not provide a specific reason for the pause, but the automaker also noted that the rest of its EV6 lineup, which is made in Georgia, is not affected by this decision.
Motor1 has contacted Kia for additional information.

Kia produces the EV6 GT trim in South Korea, a country currently facing a 25 percent tariff on car imports, and the car isn’t cheap. Pricing starts at $65,275 for the 2025, including a $1,475 destination charge, and an extra $15,000 will put the price on par with the $80,000 Cadillac Lyriq-V.
The United States has also ended federal incentives for electric vehicles, impacting electric vehicle sales at every automaker. EV6 sales are down nearly 60 percent so far.
Motorcycle Pickup1: The Kia EV6 GT is the latest victim of global automotive industry chaos. The new tariffs make it uneconomical for automakers to offer certain models in America, but we hope this delay is only temporary. If Kia builds the rest of the EV6 lineup in the United States, perhaps they could shift GT production.
