Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports and chairman of Hendrick Automotive Group, just took home a new GM Defense ISV-U.
The GM Defense Infantry Force Vehicle is a five-passenger military vehicle based on the Chevy Colorado, and uses a number of off-the-shelf commercial components. This is the first time the ISV has been offered directly to the public.

The military vehicle was offered at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Auction, with Hendrick placing the winning bid of $1,000,000 to secure ownership. Full auction proceeds will be donated to the Medal of Honor Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports the legacy of the Medal of Honor and the activities of the Medal of Honor Society.
GM Defense was awarded the contract to produce the ISV in 2020. The vehicle is designed as an ultra-light tactical platform capable of rapid deployment in demanding operational environments. The powertrain consists of a 2.8L I4 LWN Duramax turbodiesel engine, mated to a GM six-speed automatic transmission – the same combination found in the previous generation Colorado midsize pickup truck.

The design can support a variety of configurations, such as fire support, logistics, reconnaissance, and counter-unmanned aircraft systems. Notably, Hendrick also leads Hendrick Technical Solutions, which played a direct role in the development of the ISV-U by producing the rollover protection system and chassis exoskeleton.
The 2026 ISV-U crossing the block in Florida is a one-off spec built as an homage to the Medal of Honor and the 250th United States Anniversary. The auction presentation features appearances by four Medal of Honor recipients: David Bellavia, Kyle Carpenter, Terry Richardson, and Matt Williams.

As regular readers will no doubt point out, it’s not much of a surprise that Rick Hendrick submitted the winning bid for this unique GM vehicle. In fact, the NASCAR team owner already has several interesting collections, including a unique 2026 Corvette ZR1X and several VIN 001 Chevy performance vehicles.
