This recall covers Jeeps from 2024 through 2026. In fact, it’s problematic enough to cause a short-term sales halt. The rear liftgate hinge cover is not properly installed in position at the factory.
This means the cover could come off while you’re driving. This is not a good thing for other drivers on the road, who could then hit the blanket.
Of course there have been improvements. Owners of affected vehicles should contact their local dealer to schedule a service appointment. The fix could be as simple as making sure the hinge cover snaps properly into place, but that’s just speculation on our part.
Apart from that, the repair service is free.
Motor Pickup1: While issuing a recall for any reason is a bad thing, this issue seems to be a relatively harmless one. Yes, it would be a shame if your hinge cover came off while driving. But with some anchor points, you’ll probably hear a rattling sound before things get too sideways.
Either way, if you own an affected Wagoneer S, visit your local dealer immediately and have it repaired ASAP.
