2023 Lamborghini Urus S Debuts With Performante Power, Different Appearance

Lamborghini introduced the Urus facelift in August at Pebble Beach by showing the new Performante for 2023 as a hotter derivative. However, the real replacement for the wildly popular Super SUV in its basic guise is this new S version. For the first time ever, Sant’Agata Bolognese will be selling two flavors of their spiritual successor LM002. We argue it serves as a more refined alternative to Performante. Well, as smooth as a Lambo can be…

The Urus S gets the same twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that produces 666 horsepower and 850 Newton-meters (627 pound-feet) of torque. However, there’s no 47 kilograms (104 pounds) of the Performante’s weight loss, so it’s going to be slower. Indeed, Lamborghini says the Performante takes 3.3 seconds to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) while the S takes an additional two tenths of a second. Top speed remains unchanged, at 190 mph (305 km/h).

With a sprint from 0 to 124 mph (200 km/h) in 12.5 seconds, the Urus S is no slouch among high-performance SUVs. Between the world premieres of the Performante and the S, the competition is getting tougher with the launch of the long-awaited V12-powered SUV Purosangue by Ferrari. Both will compete with other high-end products such as the Aston Martin DBX and Bentley Bentayga Speed.

With mid-cycle updates, Lamborghini made its best-selling products more customizable, including 22-inch matte titanium alloy wheels and 23-inch bronze diamond sets. You can also opt for an exposed carbon fiber roof and matte or glossy black exhaust tips instead of the brushed steel finish of the newly designed exhaust setup.

Additional knick-knacks introduced with the 2023MY include standard stainless steel underbody elements finished in matte black and a painted carbon fiber hood with matte black air intakes. Several optional trims can be obtained with the same dark finish or with carbon fiber in a gloss or matte finish. Inside, there are fresh two-tone leather upholstery and two-tone trim.

There’s still no word on a hybrid version for now, but Lamborghini says it will electrify all its models in 2024. The Urus could get a plug-in hybrid setup derived from the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, but nothing is official. at this time.
