McLaren P1 Damaged During Drag Race Against LaFerrari

We’ve seen a number of drag races between supercars on this website, but the McLaren P1 versus the Ferrari LaFerrari. It’s the ultimate versus the ultimate, the culmination of what both supercar makers can do in terms of automotive engineering and applying hybrid systems to performance vehicles.

And that’s what Triple F . Collection is here – drag race between P1 and LaFerrari, with Brooks from DragTimes as a guest driver. It was a normal day for supercar content for both YouTube channels… until one of the cars broke down in the middle of a firefight. During the second race, the McLaren P1 stopped right after launch.

Onlookers from outside noticed something unusual as the McLaren P1 shifted from first gear. This is followed by a light white smoke billowing from the back of the British supercar, which tells us that something must be wrong in the engine bay.

Brooks, on the other hand, says that the car says “Clutch Overheat” (probably) on the instrument panel. He said he released the gas as soon as he saw the warning. We don’t know what’s really going on with the P1 here, but what we do know for sure is that it won’t be a cheap fix given the complexity of the vehicle.

But at least one race was completed between the P1 and LaFerrari. On that lap, the 903-horsepower McLaren won against the 950-hp Ferrari, beating the Italian supercar by a substantial gap in the line. At least, there is one race that determines the score between the two hybrid supercars.

Does the race continue with three rounds, which do you think will win the contest? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
