Audi launched the facelifted A8 family for Europe in November last year and the updated luxury sedan is now poised to hit the US market. Both the regular A8 and the sportier S8 receive upgrades all around, but perhaps the biggest news is the pricing for the 2022 model year, which includes a significant price drop for the S8.
The more powerful member of the A8 range has a starting price of $116,900 (not including destination MSRP) for the new model year versus $129,500 for the 2021 S8. This is a major $12,600 price drop for the fast sedan, which comes as standard with air suspension and steering. all wheels. A 4.0-liter V8 with 563 horsepower (414 kilowatts) under the hood is also part of the stock factory kit.

As for the regular A8, it’s brought in without any initial price changes and for the 2022 model year, you’ll need to spend at least $86,500 (not including the MSRP goal) to buy the A8 L 55 TFSI. This is the only A8 option available for the new model year, powered by a 3.0-liter TFSI V6 engine producing 335 hp (246 kW). As standard, this engine uses 19-inch five-spoke design wheels with all-season tires.
Much like its European sibling, the updated Audi A8 for the United States can be distinguished by a more prominent single frame surrounded by additional chrome trim. In addition, an important part of the facelift is a pair of redesigned headlights with 1.3 million micro-mirrors that control the functions of the digital matrix. At the rear, the rear fascia now features new signature OLED taillights and a new light strip that stretches coast to coast. A redesigned diffuser sits low on the bumper.
Of course, the S8 has a more aggressive look thanks mainly to the four tailpipes at the rear and a wider radiator grille at the front. If you want your sporty luxury sedan to be tougher, you can opt for the Black Optic Plus package, which features black mirrors, badges and 21-inch alloy wheels. The same package is also available for the regular A8.
