The Aragon weekend was characterized not only by the double accident caused unintentionally by Marc Marquez in the premier class, but also from the almost surreal episode that occurred during Moto3 qualifying. Two mechanics of the Max Racing Team approached the garage of the KTM Tech3 team to closely observe Adrian Fernandez’s bike, at least that seemed to be the initial intent.

When the Spaniard was about to leave the MotorLand pit lane to attempt the time attack, the two mechanics pinched the brake lever, also risking to drop the poor and incredulous Adrian, who had to stop the start for a few seconds. The episode was filmed with a mobile phone and posted on social media, immediately becoming viral. A bad blow for the team of Max Biaggiwith the champion forced to distance himself.

The Corsair was present in the pits when the affair occurred, but he never would have imagined that his two men would come to this. He personally apologized to KTM Tech3 and the team of Adrian Fernandez, then clarified what happened to the microphones of Sky Sport MotoGP in the aftermath of qualifying. “I wanted to clarify that it was not a request from the team and it is a gesture far from the ethics of our team“, Underlined Max Biaggi”.

The IRTA also had to intervene on the issue, inflicting two rounds of disqualification each on the two mechanics and a fine of 2000 euros each. “To hinder an opponent in this way is perhaps not dangerous, but it is certainly of an inhuman ugliness. I wanted to defend them but they didn’t give me the chance – added Max Biaggi -. I am ashamed of what happened, for me the Irta sanction is fair“.

Not only that, the two men of the Max Racing Team they will also have to submit to the even more decisive sanction of Max Biaggi, who could opt for immediate dismissal. “In thirty years of MotoGP I thought I had seen all the colors, but I was wrong, I missed this one, it is a bad scene that I do not wish anyone to manage. Those two mechanics weren’t there by chance. I think they even agreed, it is their personal initiative. Maybe they didn’t want Sasaki not to be followed, but the riders have to face it alone on the track “.
