2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Gets 510-HP I6 Engine Standard On Some Trims

A few small but important equipment and trim updates are coming for the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. This massive flagship SUV hasn’t changed visually and mechanically, but you’ll find slightly different groupings for the standard and optional gear. There’s also a new range-topping trim, but if you stick to the midpack, the 2023 Grand Wagoneer is almost $3,000 cheaper.

The big news for 2023 is the Jeep’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6. It debuted for the 2022 model year, bringing 510 horsepower to a large SUV while using slightly less gas compared to the standard edition 6.4-liter V8. The i6 was a $2,000 option across the Grand Wagoneer lineup for 2022, but is now standard in everything except the base trim. For those still opting for the 471-hp V8, this is the only manufacturer offered in the entry-level Grand Wagoneer but a no-cost option in the higher-spec Obsidian trim level.

Yes, we said trim level, because there is a second Grand Wagoneer Obsidian spec for 2023. In addition to the Series II, Series II, and Series III Obsidian, there is now the Obsidian Series III which is placed at the very top. It’s an appearance package that adds black accents to the exterior and interior, along with polished 22-inch alloy wheels. At the lower end of the spectrum, eight-passenger seating with second-row bench seats is standard for the base trim and Series II, but the seven-seater layout with second-row captain seats is an option.

With the previously upgraded $2,000 engine now standard, one would expect the price of the 2023 Grand Wagoneer to go up accordingly, but you would be wrong. The base model remains the same at $90,640, but the Series II drops to $97,735. This is a drop of $2,905 from a year earlier, and the Obsidian Series II saw a similar decline at an MSRP of $103,230. The Series III price is steady at $109,995, and the new Obsidian Series III is the most expensive Grand Wagoneer at $111,635. All prices include a $2,000 destination fee from the Jeep.

The 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer will reach dealerships in the second half of 2022.
