Airstream Ram ProMaster Teased As New Tour Coach

Airstream is popular in the US for its easily recognizable glossy aluminum coachwork for its travel trailers. However, the company owned by Thor Industries actually has a touring coach line that offers its customers self-contained motor homes.

Airstream’s range of touring coaches consists of various motorhomes based on the Mercedes Sprinter van.

But that will soon change after Airstream announced a new addition to its family of touring coaches – one based on the Ram. The Ohio-based company announced the new motorhome via Twitter. We’ve embedded a teaser clip below, which you can also access via the source link at the bottom of this story.

Although not announced in the teaser, the new Airstream touring coach will likely be based on the high-roof ProMaster. The footage shows the outgoing model but we suspect the Ram ProMaster 2023 will soon be an option as a redesigned version will be available in stores soon.

Regarding configuration, we still don’t have a clue as to how Airstream will complement the ProMaster, although Ram commercial vehicles are known for being compact with the wide range of available wheelbase lengths. Sprinter’s current touring coach can be an indication, with 4, 6, 7, and 9 seater configurations available – all with the ability to sleep two.

Information about the powertrain is also scarce at this point. We can expect a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 Stellantis under the hood, which is found on the 2022 and 2023 model years from the ProMaster. An EV version is unlikely – at least for now.

Airstream will fully reveal the new Ram ProMaster lineup of touring trainers on September 13, 2022. We’ll find out more details, including pricing. For the record, the most affordable in Sprinter’s lineup of touring coaches starts at over 200k.
