Enea Bastianini works as a “factory” driver in the Misano test. Affair clarified with Ducati after the Misano race.

Enea Bastianini will be Ducati factory rider from next MotoGP season, he won the ballot with Jorge Martin and will join Pecco Bagnaia from the Valencia test scheduled for November, after the end of the championship. The 24-year-old driver from Romagna will have to get used not only to the new box, and to the new staff, since Alberto Giribuola will no longer be at his side. From 2023 he will have Marco Rigamonti as chief engineer, currently working for Johann Zarco in Pramac Racing.
For Enea he will also start a new role as official driver in all respects, he will be among the first drivers of the brand to have to test the technical updates, sacrificing something in the first free practice sessions during the World Championship. On the first day of testing at Misano, on par with Pecco, he received the evolution 2023 chassis, with the aim of improving cornering. The frame project of the Desmosedici is still in 2020, so the GP23 will be born with a new frame.
Bastianini ready for the factory adventure

Good first impressions of the novelty brought to the track by Borgo Panigale, waiting to hear the sensations on the new device mounted on the clutch lever, with the aim of optimizing the start. “The new frame has its strengths, as does the old one. Ducati will continue to work on it, but I think we have taken another step in the right direction. At the end I was a bit tired and with used tires, but I still lapped in 1’31 ”. I think Pecco is also working on this“.
A few days after Misano GP the final sprint between Bastianini and Bagnaia still takes hold before the finish line. The attempt to overtake by the driver Gresini was seen as a threat to the vice-champion of Piedmontese origin. In the event of a fall he could have said goodbye to the world championship race. The TV images showed a near contact between the two, in reality there was much more safety distance, as evidenced by the data brought to the pits.
After the race there was a meeting between the leaders of the Ducati team and Enea Bastianini: “We studied the data after the race and in the braking I was further away from Pecco than what we saw on TV – the Romagna rider clarified to the microphones of Sky Sport MotoGP -. This is why Ducati apologized to me after Sunday’s comments“.
