Bentley Mulliner Batur Convertible Rendering Possibility Preview

One of the highlights of the Monterey Car Week which just ended at Pebble Beach is the Bentley Mulliner Batur. This not only previewed the British automaker’s new design language but also served as a turning point for Bentley’s electric future. Only 18 of the $2 million coupe will be made – all of them have repaired hard tops.

But since the Bentley Continental GT has a convertible version, there is a possibility that the Batur could also exist in the future without a roof. Fortunately, we would have no trouble imagining it as X-Tomi Design has been taken from the roof to satisfy our curiosity.

Keeping all the other elements that define the Bentley Mulliner Batur, the unofficial rendering simply removes the roof, from the top of the A-pillar, all the way to the back. We think this one is well executed, and somehow fixes what was a bit odd with the Batur – the bloated rear end.

Then again, coupe or convertible, the main talking point in the new Batur is seen in the front fascia. No more the usual Bentley round headlights; now there are triple-beam lights with LED accents. The grille is not far from Bentley’s current design.

Bentley’s Design Director, Andreas Mindt, is the man behind Batur. He had been with the VW Group for 25 years before joining Crewe in 2021. The electric Audi E-Tron is one of his most famous works.

That said, Batur peeks into the inevitable electric future of the Bentley even though it’s powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W12 engine. The transition to EVs will occur in 2030 when the automaker’s lineup is expected to be all-electric. Whether that electric future will have a roofless version is still unknown but it’s definitely a possibility.
