2023 Ford Transit Custom Hiding Nothing In New Spy Photos

Posted on

In this case, the term spy photo give rise to a slightly different meaning from what we usually present. As far as we know, there isn’t a single camouflage anywhere in this Ford van. We don’t see any plastic panels. No fake light stickers. Even the Ford badge is on display in full. Guys, this is the All-New Ford Transit Custom fully revealed, at least from a design perspective.

The Transit Custom is a van offered in Europe, where the current model has been around for several years now. And in the interest of full disclosure, there are a few things in this particular van that need pointing out. We didn’t see the camo, but there was black band covering the entire body line where the raised roof sits on the van. There is more band in the body line above it, with less again the tape reaches around the steep front of the roof. The purpose for this is unknown, but it’s a sign that this vehicle is not intended for many dealers. It also misses the greenhouse and rear bumper.

These are minor flaws in the bigger picture, however. With no camouflage to speak of, the full debut of the next-generation Transit Custom is likely to happen soon. That’s reinforced by the new all-electric E-Transit Custom that was revealed in May, bringing nearly identical styling. However, not all details of the E-Transit have been announced – Ford says it will be coming in September. Is it just a coincidence that a new Transit Custom test vehicle shows up without camouflage with September less than a week away? That’s very unlikely.

Obviously, the E-Transit Custom and the internal combustion model have a lot in common. The front fascia and grille are slightly different, obviously because the engine still needs air for power and cooling. We expect a range of petrol and diesel manufacturers, either direct remnants of the 2.2-liter and 2.0-liter engines currently on offer or variations of them. Hybrid powertrains are also a distinct possibility.
