In the midst of the sea of cars that graced Monterey Car Week and at Pebble Beach, Bentley and The Macallan announced the continuation of their partnership which was born in July 2021. And of course comes with another product called Macallan’s horizon.
Previous collaborative efforts between the two companies spawned a custom Viridian Bentley Bentayga Hybrid that visited the Macallan Estate in Scotland. This time, a whiskey bottle made from recycled and reused materials has been introduced, which “encloses the shared ambition of building a sustainable future from the rich heritage of both brands.”
The Macallan Horizon is a limited edition single malt whiskey that comes in a handcrafted glass bottle that is touted as unlike any whiskey bottle in history. It comes with a twisted design, which according to the release, represents “the mastery of space and time achieved by The Macallan and Bentley Motors in creating prototypes.”
The bottle is then encapsulated within a structure made from reused or ethically sourced materials. These include copper from a small used spirits distillery, located at the former The Macallan distillery; aluminum recovered from Continental GT, Flying Spur and Bentayga production in Crewe; and recycled wood from both brands.
The encapsulation also uses the world’s lowest CO2 shell sourced in Scotland. It is also used in the recently launched Bentley Mulliner Batur at Pebble Beach. And of course, the bottle will carry The Macallan single malt whiskey, which will have its own recycling and sustainability story.
While most whiskey bottles stand vertically, The Macallan Horizon begs to be different by sitting in a custom-built cradle horizontally (hence the name), representing the horizontal position of the car.
The company has yet to reveal pricing for The Macallan Horizon. The limited edition bottle will launch in the summer of 2023.
