Lincoln Zephyr Is A Beautiful Sedan That America Won’t Get

Lincoln is celebrating 100 years of ownership from Ford and judging by the recently launched Model L100 Concept, the future looks exciting for the luxury brand. Currently selling only high-riding vehicles in the United States, the marque has a large presence in China where it now also offers a stylish new sedan. The vehicle is called the Zephyr and there’s a new video detailing everything you need to know about it.

The Zephyr is Lincoln’s first sedan since the last Continental rolled off the assembly line in late 2020 as demand for the traditional three-box vehicle in America continues to decline. In China, however, there is still solid demand for the sedan and the Lincoln has a successor to the MKZ. The Zephyr uses the same platform as the Ford Evos and Ford Mondeo for China, but features a more elegant design and more luxurious features.

The vehicle – also known as the Lincoln Z – was designed by two teams, one in California and one in China. While this might leave some hope that we’ll actually see it on sale in the US one day, it’s pretty much a China-only model for now. In the People’s Republic, the fully equipped car featured in this video by Wheelsboy costs just under $50,000.

The Zephyr cabin offers a premium experience for the price. It has a dual-screen setup with a 12.3-inch display instrument cluster and a large 27-inch infotainment screen covering not only the center but also the area in front of the passenger seat. The infotainment system uses exclusive Nebula model software, while the steering wheel has touch sensitive buttons.

The only engine option for the Zephyr, at least for now, is a turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine with 243 horsepower (181 kilowatts). The eight-speed automatic sends power to the front wheels for an acceleration of 0-62 miles per hour (0-100 kilometers per hour) in about 6.8 seconds.
