Cadillac Escalade Recalled For Third-Row Seat Belt Buckle Issue

Cadillac’s parent company, General Motors, has issued recalls for certain units of the 2021 to 2022 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV to address issues with third-row seat belts.

Problem: the rivets that secure the buckles to the mounting brackets in the left or right third-row seat belt assemblies may not form properly in the affected Escalade unit.

Danger: seat belts with deformed rivets may not hold the passenger properly, increasing the risk of injury in the event of an accident.

The fix: a Cadillac dealer will inspect the rivet head formation on the left and right side seat belt assemblies. If a damaged rivet is found, the seat belt buckle assembly will be replaced. This procedure will be carried out at no cost to the vehicle owner.

Affected components: third row seat belt buckle assembly.

• Cadillac Escalade 2021-2022
• Cadillac Escalade ESV 2021-2022

Number of affected vehicles: Cadillac’s parent company, General Motors, has indicated that 484,155 vehicles may be affected by the recall of the faulty seat belt assembly. However, this figure includes not only the Escalade, but also other full-size GM SUVs such as the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban as well as the GMC Yukon.

The next step: Cadillac will send a notification letter to owners of affected Cadillac Escalade units with further instructions on September 26^th2022.
