Ford has made it clear that the Evos launched in China will not be sold elsewhere, but tough wagons of a similar design have already been seen in North America and Europe. It is currently known as Fusion Active, although its name has not been confirmed by Blue Oval. We can see the prototype here, still wearing full camouflage clothing. However, there is more to it than meets the eye as we are dealing with two different vehicles.
Looking bigger, the other SUV has a different mirror that sits lower on the doors and the belt line goes up near the C-pillar. Where have we seen it recently? In 2023 Edge was launched in China by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as part of the vehicle homologation process. The test vehicle had an extra layer around that area to hide the C and D pillars joined together through an oddly shaped belt line.
It is believed China’s Edge will not be sold in North America as the current generation model will be the last. As previously reported, the CN-spec Edge is much larger and has three-row seating, though it’s not the first since the seven-seat Edge Plus has been in the People’s Republic of China since 2019.
Both prototypes caught hot weather testing in Spain reinforcing Ford has pretty much given up on cars to focus on SUVs. However, this statement is only partially true because the company recently updated Fusion in China where it is sold as Mondeo. Long gone in the United States, Global Focus will be out of production in 2025. At least, a new Mustang is on the horizon.

Ford has been quite active in China lately because in addition to the updated Evos and Mondeo midsize sedan, the company also launched the Equator and Equator Sport 2023. It also made the Mustang Mach-E there, along with the Territory compact crossover and Focus compact sedan.
