Dodge Challenger Conversions Now Available Through Dealers

Dodge still doesn’t offer the factory-built Challenger convertible, but sun-seeking buyers now have a streamlined option for third-party convertibles. Starting with the 2022 model, Dodge dealers will offer one-stop orders for the new Challenger convertible made by Drop Top Customs. The process takes place before the customer accepts the shipment, but it doesn’t come cheap. The convertible costs $25,999, not including the cost of the car.

The process is actually rather simple. Interested buyers visit their local Dodge dealer and order the new Challenger, whether in R/T, R/T Scat Pack, or SRT Hellcat trim. The dealer then selects the expedited shipping option to Drop Top Customs where the conversion process takes place. The car will be shipped directly from Dodge’s Brampton Assembly Plant to a Florida-based store for repairs. With all the buttons, the car is finally delivered to the dealer for delivery to the buyer. Mobil maintains the manufacturer’s warranty on all unmodified parts. Convertible components are guaranteed for three years or 36,000 miles.

By coordinating upfits in this way, Dodge says build-to-delivery times are shortened. It’s not clear how long the process will take, but Dodge says orders could begin on August 16 for the new 2022 Challenger. Dealer-managed processes will also be available in the 2023 model when the order bank opens.

“While we hit the throttle towards our new performance path, Dodge also reveled in this winning lap by celebrating decades of muscle car power,” said Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis. “What better way to commemorate how far we’ve come than to make it easier for Dodge Challenger customers to create throwback convertible looks. We may not customize them, but those who want a Challenger convertible can get them sooner, factory-expedited for Drop Top Customs. Owners can order third-party modifications through our Dodge dealer, and then pick up their finished convertible at the dealership once the vehicle is complete.”

The announcement comes amid Dodge’s first wave of news for the company’s Dodge Speed Week 2022 event. Focusing on current offerings, day one also includes announcements for the new Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat 2023 as well as new trims for the Charger and Challenger 2023.
