The current generation Kia Sorento debuted in 2020 and goes on sale in the United States for the 2022 model year. While the model still feels very new, a refresh is underway. This rendering from Kolesa imagines what the updated crossover face would look like.
The two images below show this rendering next to the 2022 Kia Sorento. The top grille has the biggest changes. For the updated model, the running lights are incorporated into the main body of the headlights. Metal spears extend from the headlights to the center of the grille.

The lower fascia is slightly different. Now there’s a vertical light there. The separation between the top and bottom grids is now one, the pieces are integrated rather than having a split between them.
From the side, the only change to expect from the updated Sorento is the different wheel options.
On the back, there is a slight evolution of the current look. The taillights may be different, and the bumper may receive a slight deformation.
The technical changes that accompany the refresh are still a mystery. There are currently several powertrains available with the Sorento. The entry-level mill is a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 191 horsepower (142 kilowatts) and 182 pound-feet (247 newton-meters) of torque. A turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder offers 281 hp (210 kW) and 311 lb-ft (422 Nm) of torque. A turbocharged 1.6 liter with hybrid assist produces a total of 227 hp (169 kW). The plug-in hybrid with a 1.6-liter turbo engine and 13.8 kilowatt-hour battery produces 261 hp (195 kW).
Based on the trademark filing, Kia intends to launch the powerful X-Pro variants of the Sorento and Telluride. They will likely follow tweaks to this trim on the latest Sportage. On that model, there are 17-inch matte black alloy wheels with BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, LED fog lamps, and heaters for the windshield and washer nozzles. A two-tone roof is an option.
Kia has yet to announce details for the Sorento 2023. However, it looks like it’s too early to roll out a refresh. Perhaps, we can see an updated model for the 2024 model year.
