Lexus GX Black Line Returns For 2023, Limited Production To 3,000

Lexus is adding Black Line trim to its GX SUV for the first time for the 2022 model year. The luxury automaker has announced that the trim will return in 2023 as the Black Line Special Edition. It will have limited production and a few extra items compared to last year’s offering.

Lexus will limit production of the new GX 460 Black Line SE to just 3,000 units, building on it from the Premium class model. The Black Line will now be standard with the Panoramic View Monitor bird’s eye camera system. Lexus will also expand the Black Line exterior color palette to include the new Eminent White Pearl, which combines the exclusive Obsidian and Black Line Nori Green Pearl colors.

Visually, Lexus adds a dark color to the skid plate, grille, fog lamps, roof spoiler, and GX shark fin. At the rear, the clear SUV taillights receive black inserts while unique 18-inch glossy black alloy wheels sit at the corners. Inside, the SUV gets a black headliner, gray stitching, and Black Matte Ash Wood trim on the steering wheel. Lexus also offers new seat accents with Boulder Gray NuLuxe trim.

The limited edition Black Line will continue to use the naturally aspirated 4.6-liter V8 engine, which continues to produce 301 horsepower (221 kilowatts) and 329 pound-feet (446 Newton-meters) of torque across the GX lineup. All-wheel drive is standard across the range, and the engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The massive SUV hit 60 miles per hour in 7.8 seconds which Lexus claims.

Other changes to the GX lineup are minor. The automaker replaced the exterior color of the Starfire Pearl with Eminent White Pearl while completely eliminating the Claret Mica for the 2023 model. The GX 460 in Luxury trim now comes standard with the Mark Levinson Premium Audio Surround Sound system.

According to the Lexus consumer site, the 2023 GX starts at $57,575 for the entry-level model. The Black Line Special Edition starts at $62,310. Prices for both include destination fees.
