Porsche Cayenne Coupe GTS Facelift Spying the Nurburgring

Porsche has been actively testing the updated Cayenne family since February last year and about a year and a half later, the camouflaged Cayenne prototype is still being pushed to its limits. We have a new batch of spy shots showing a prototype Cayenne Coupe licking the Nurburgring and our photographer telling us it’s from the GTS trim level.

We don’t have a video of this test run at the German track but even from the photos, the facelifted Cayenne Coupe GTS looks pretty fast and quiet. The rear wing was deployed, meaning the test vehicle might be traveling at high speeds during the photo session. There’s a driver and co-driver onboard, both wearing safety helmets, hinting they’re trying to extract all the performance from the engine to the last drop.

Porsche continues to use black bands on black prototypes as a strategic move to keep the design hidden from prying eyes. On closer inspection, however, you’ll notice that the overall shape of the taillights – a highlight of the visual revision – will not change much, with the narrow-angle lens connected horizontally by a strip that runs coast to coast. This layout is very similar or even very likely identical to the lights we’ve seen on other fresh Cayenne prototypes.

Changes are also expected in the cabin, where the dashboard is expected to be refreshed with a design inspired by the current 911. Unfortunately, we haven’t had a chance to take a closer look at the Cayenne’s updated interior. spies can catch a glimpse of the cabin recently.

Under the hood, the Cayenne Coupe GTS has a detuned version of the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 found in the Cayenne Turbo. In the GTS trim, the eight-cylinder engine produces 453 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque, making it slightly more powerful than the Cayenne S. There have been rumors of a potential power boost with the facelift and we wouldn’t be surprised if the output figures went up a few percent. However, nothing can be confirmed at this time.
