German tuner Manhart got his hands on the latest BMW M3 Competition and tuned it to create the one-off MH3 GTR. The company gave the sedan a comprehensive upgrade to its powertrain, suspension and styling.
The MH3 GTR continues to use the S58 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six. The MHtronik Manhart auxiliary control unit increases output to 641 horsepower (478 kilowatts) and 590 pound-feet of torque. This is a healthy increase over the factory ratings of 503 hp (375 kW) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm).

Manhart also offers several exhaust upgrades. The standard setup uses stainless steel tubing with valves to control sound in and out of four 3.9-inch (100-millimeter) diameter ends. Outlets are also available with a carbon or ceramic finish.
This tuner offers Otto particulate filter removal with a 200-cell catalytic converter, sport downpipes with a 300-cell catalytic converter, or a cat-free racing setup. However, these parts do not have TÜV approval for road use in Germany, but Manhart offers components for export.
The MH3 GTR should handle the road a bit better than the already impressive M3 Competition’s capabilities. Buyers can choose a Manhart Variant 4 coilover setup using KW components or just a lowering kit with H&R springs.
Manhart left brake stock. Although if buyers of the MH3 GTR want to upgrade, the tuner is willing to make the tweak.
The company made some minor changes to the M3 Competition style. The MH3 GTR has a dark gray body with lighter gray stripes on the hood, rear deck and trunk lid. The body gets carbon parts for aero flics in the front corners, side skirts, rear lip spoiler, and diffuser.
The sedan runs on wheels with six pairs of spokes and measures 9×20 inches at the front and 10.5×20 inches at the rear. They have a satin black finish in these photos, but Manhart can make it a different color if that’s what the customer wants.
The only revision to the interior is a pair of Recaro Podium front seats with full carbon fiber shells. The Manhart logo is embossed under the headrest.
Manhart’s announcement did not reveal the price of the MH3 GTR. For reference, the 2023 M3 Competition starts at $77,695 (after a $995 destination cost) with rear-wheel drive or $81,795 with all-wheel drive.
