The Chevrolet Colorado 2023 comes as a tougher midsize truck, regardless of which trim level you choose. It is available in Work Truck, LT, Z71, ZR2, and Trail Boss trims. Plus, there’s a ZR2 Desert Boss pack for people who want to go fast in the sand.
All models use a new chassis that gives the Colorado 2023 a 3.1-inch longer wheelbase than the current pickups in the Crew Cab, short box configuration. Unlike the existing versions, there is only one body style available. The extended cabin variant is no longer part of the range, and there is only one bed length in the row.

The engineers also pushed the wheels forward. This reduces front overland and increases the approach angle of the Colorado 2023 over the current version. For more capability, the Trail Boss is equipped with a two-inch suspension lift and a track three inches wider than the WT and LT. The ZR2 goes a step further with a three-inch lift and Multimatic DSSV damper.

Chevy also simplifies the Colorado 2023 engine lineup. Three tones of the 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder are available. The only gearbox is an eight-speed automatic which has faster downshifts than the current transmission.
For comparison, the current version offers four- and six-cylinder engines, in addition to turbodiesel. For 2023, the 2.7-liter powerplant features a stiffer casting block cylinder, a 30 percent stiffer crankshaft, and a forged bottom end.
You can get a 2.7-liter turbo with between 237 horsepower and 310 hp. The table below shows which outputs and trims the engine version offers:

The cargo bed is increasingly becoming an important point of innovation in the pickup segment. The ZR2 gets watertight storage in the tailgate that measures 45 inches (1,143 millimeters) wide and 4 inches (101 mm) deep. It has a drain to drain any liquid from this area. This feature is available on other truck models.
The bed also has eight, standard fixed ties and room for nine more people. There is a groove in the front of the space for mounting motorcycle or bicycle tires. A 110 volt outlet is available back there.
Inside, all Colorados come with an 8.0-inch diagonal digital instrument cluster and an 11.3-inch diagonal infotainment touchscreen. A button on the center console switches between five driving modes: Normal, Tow/Haul, Off-Road, Terrain, and Baja.
The truck is also equipped with a standard safety suite that includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, fixed lane assist with departure warning, distance following indicator and IntelliBeam automatic high beam assist. Available upgrades include blind zone steering assist, rear traffic braking, adaptive cruise control, HD surround vision and rear pedestrian warning.
The off-road-focused Colorado ZR2 is the toughest of offerings in the truck lineup. This model features a front fascia with cut-out corners, a Flow Tie badge on the grille, and LED headlights. Modified front and rear bumpers provide better approach and departure angles. The aluminum skid plate protects the radiator and engine oil pan. The driver can operate the front and rear electronic differentials. This vehicle uses 17-inch wheels with 33-inch tires.
The ZR2 comes in Artemis gray interior with Strike yellow accents. This model comes standard with heated front seats and an eight-way power adjustable driver’s seat.
The new ZR2 Desert Boss pack takes the already rugged model and adds 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, brush blades, style bar on the bed, roof-mounted light bar, underbody camera, and custom stickers.
The Colorado 2023 will go on sale in the first half of the year. Chevrolet will build it at the plant in Wentzville, Missouri.
