Porsche 911 GT3 RS 2023 Teased Ahead of August 17 Full Debut

We’ve spied on the next generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS several times and we know the development work is almost done. A new official teaser image coming from Stuttgart confirms that the new top-range 911 will be ready for its full debut soon. Porsche plans to launch the sports car on August 17 this year.

There isn’t much text accompanying the preview image, though, at least, Porsche confirmed what would power the vehicle. The 4.0-liter flat-six engine will produce about 500 horsepower (368 kilowatts). The naturally aspirated factory will reportedly have 520 hp (383 hp) and should be capable of revs up to 9,500 rpm.

“The new 911 GT3 RS is even more optimized for track use than its predecessor. The spontaneously responsive, high-revving four-liter six-cylinder boxer engine with around 500 PS has proven ideal for use on trackdays and club sporting events,” commented Andreas Preuninger, Director GT Model Line at Porsche. “That’s why we focused primarily on aerodynamic and chassis questions in the development of the new 911 GT3 RS.”

The single available teaser image shows us a prototype of the new 911 GT3 RS that appears to be part of the Nurburgring. We’ve seen a few similar test cars and we know about some visual tweaks compared to the 911 GT3. For example, at the front, a pair of vertical fins on either side of the bumper will be added to improve aerodynamics. On the side, the most hardcore and track-focused 911 receives front fender vents, additional aero behind the front wheels, and intakes on the rear fender.

Porsche currently sells the 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 Touring in the United States with prices starting at $169,700. This is the price for the base bare-bones model and we expect the more powerful and hardcore 911 GT3 RS to fetch a significant price premium above that figure. Our very rough estimate is a starting price of around $200,000.
