Rolls-Royce will be one of the first legacy luxury automakers to launch a fully electric vehicle when the Specter debuts at some point during the second half of next year. The company is busy working on a zero-emission replacement for the Wraith and our photographers captured testing the prototype in snowy Sweden.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen an electric Rolls and we have to admit not much has changed compared to previous spy photos. The British automaker is still testing the car with full body camouflage which really confirms the name. Very few parts of the vehicle are not hidden, one of which is the traditional Rolls-Royce grille at the front.

In an effort to give us a better preview of the Electric Specter, our friends and colleagues at Kolesa.ru share exclusive renderings of their vehicles with us. This digital image depicts the luxury EV from almost every angle and does look a bit like a modern version of the Wraith. Rolls-Royce doesn’t want you to call it that, because the Specter rides the Luxury Architecture alongside the latest Ghost and Phantom, unlike the Wraith which is based on BMW’s architecture.
It’s hard to pinpoint what the Specter’s final design will look like, but these renderings suggest that the front will feature a separate headlight layout. That’s not necessarily confirmed by spy photos, though it looks very plausible. From the back, the test prototype looks a lot like the refreshed Wraith but there’s a badge confirming it’s an “electric test vehicle.”
While the Specter won’t be using the BMW platform, there are rumors about sharing the powertrain with the upcoming BMW iX M60. From what we know so far, the dual motor system for an electric SUV performance will have around 600 horsepower. If this figure were correct and carried over to the Specter, it could give the zero-emissions coupe from Westhampnett a 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) acceleration in about 4.0 seconds, making it one of the fastest.
