Cadillac Celestiq Show Car: Here It Is

[ad_1]

After countless delays and months of teasers, the Cadillac Celestiq show car was finally revealed today.

The future of Cadillac is all about battery-powered electric vehicles, and the Celestiq will lead the way to the next chapter in the history of this luxury marque. The sportsback sedan was designed with Cadillac’s 120-year heritage in mind, as the design and engineering team sought inspiration from the bespoke V-16 trainer, and especially from the handcrafted 1957 Cadillac Brougham.

Premium technology abounds in the interior of the Cadillac Celestiq show car. The infotainment system is governed by five high-definition LED interactive screens. A large 55-inch diagonal LED screen extends across the dashboard, featuring a digital curtain that blocks the driver from seeing the video passengers are currently watching, eliminating distractions. At the top, the Cadillac Celestiq has a roof with SPD SmartGlass, divided into four variable illumination quadrants, allowing passengers to control the opacity of their respective zones. The Celestiq will also be one of the first vehicles to feature Ultra Cruise, which will be able to handle up to 95 percent of driving scenarios without human input.

“We combine the beauty of function with the beauty of form,” says Laetitia Lopez, creative designer for Cadillac Color and Trim. “We had to reconsider all aspects to immerse the customer, all their senses, and make a connection with the vehicle through the finest original materials, extraordinary details and state-of-the-art technology.”

It’s important to note that today’s vehicles are show cars, and not everything seen here will make their way into production models.

The Cadillac Celestiq will be built in very small numbers at the GM Global Technical Center, thanks to an $81 million investment in the facility. The luxury brand stated that more information about the production model, including availability, will be disclosed “at a later date.” Sources have indicated that interested customers should expect the Celestiq to carry a price tag of over $300,000.
