2024 BMW 5 Series Rendered After New Spy Photo Shows Headlight Design

Just earlier this month, the next-generation BMW 5 Series finally ditched the temporary headlights and started testing on public roads with the production cluster hiding under camouflage. It’s still really hard to see the full form of the lights and internal graphics, but we can finally imagine what the 2024 5er will look like. Or, rather, our friends and colleagues at Kolesa.ru help us with their new unofficial preview.

The renders attached to this article depict what we believe is an accurate depiction of the next-generation Series 5. From what we can see, the headlights will take inspiration from the facelifted Series 3 but in a mix with touches from the Series 2 Coupe. We know the kidney grille will be a little bigger than before but not even close to the size and shape of the grille on the M3/M4 duo and the like.

We’re pleased to report that the rear will have a very different design compared to the new 7 Series and i7 with a somewhat controversial headlight design. The new 5 Series will keep things more traditional, giving the middle child in BMW’s non-SUV line a rear fascia that looks incredibly sturdy and stylish.

Hearing the news that BMW will keep the 5 Series Touring alive is certainly a breath of fresh air in this world of SUV craze. There are also wild rumors that the Bavarian company plans to bring back the M5 Touring as a competitor to the Audi RS6 and Mercedes-AMG E63 S Estate. While this is just speculation, for now, it is based on reliable sources, which makes us hope it will come true.

BMW will launch the new 5 with a family of petrol and diesel engines that are Euro 7 compliant, all featuring some sort of electrification. A plug-in hybrid powertrain should also be part of the engine lineup and there are rumors of an M Performance PHEV with a system output of 565 horsepower. The range-topper M5 is also believed to be a hybrid with a V8 combustion engine and electric motor.
