The Toyota Yaris Cross GR Sport is a new variant of the small crossover launched in Japan. More than just styling tweaks, the company gave the vehicle a stiffer body and revised suspension.
The Yaris Cross GR Sport features additional bracing in the center of the underbody and at the rear. Toyota says this provides better steering stability and less body roll.

The revised suspension lowers ride height by 0.39 inches (10 millimeters). The company also changed the settings for the springs, shocks, and electric power steering. The Yaris Cross GR Sport uses 18-inch Falken FK510 tires.
With a hybrid powertrain, the Yaris Cross GR Sport has an improved powertrain controller that provides better accelerator pedal response.
Toyota also revamped the style of this small crossover by adding mesh grilles at the front and rear. The brake calipers get a coat of red paint, and the model uses 10-spoke wheels.
Inside, the Yaris Cross GR Sport gets special front seats which are a combination of Air Nubuck material and synthetic leather. There is a three-spoke steering wheel wrapped in leather with the GR logo on it. The front of the center console has a dark gray metallic paint. The shift key has a leather cover. The pedals get an aluminum cover.
GR Sport is available with a pair of 1.5 liter three-cylinder engines. One version produces 118 horsepower (88 kilowatts) and the hybrid variant from this factory has 90 hp (67 kW). While the Yaris Cross is available with all-wheel drive, this model only comes with a front-drive layout.
The Yaris Cross GR Sport went on sale in Japan in August. Price for combustion only models starting from 2,367,000 ($17,166 at current exchange rates), which includes the state consumption tax. This hybrid retails for 2,750,000 ($19,940).
The GR Sport joins the Adventure trim after being introduced last year. The model emphasizes making the vehicle appear tougher by adding a revised front fascia and rear bumper guard plate.
