The first production-spec Automobili Pininfarina Battista has been completed, and is coming to the United States to be showcased during Monterey Car Week in August. First, there was a show in Monaco for the debut client test experience. Customer deliveries began this summer.
As a refresher, the Battista produces a massive 1,900 horsepower (1,417 kilowatts) and 1,696 pound-feet (2,300 Newton-meters) in total from four electric motors. The 120 kilowatt-hour battery comes from Rimac. Acceleration to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) takes less than 2.0 seconds.

Each Battista goes through a painstaking production process at Automobili Pininfarina’s factory in Cambiano, Italy. It took a team of 10 craftsmen about 1,250 hours to build each hypercar example. Five examples of the Battista Anniversario push the production time to 1,340 hours due to bespoke elements and hand-painted finishes.
Assembling the Battista began by building a rolling chassis consisting of a carbon fiber monocoque, electric powertrain, T-shaped battery, and various electrical systems. The next step is to bind body-in-white to this structure. The company then rigs the vehicle for a two-day process to ensure all measurements are within certain tolerances.
Automobili Pininfarina craftsmen then removed the body from the chassis to paint the panels. This takes three to four weeks because the Battista has a multi-layered metal finish. At the same time, someone else was composing the interior.
The whole vehicle is finally back together. The company has specialized software and tools to perform line-end checks. One of the final steps is to take the elevator for 24 hours to perform wheel and steering alignment. After that, there are rounds of testing on the road to ensure the car meets the company’s quality standards.
Automobili Pininfarina only made 150 Battista units. He wanted to make sure owners could enjoy this hypercar for years to come. Vehicles support remote diagnostics, and the company uses what it calls “flying doctors” to assist with services wherever their owners live.
Buyers can also purchase a five or 10 year maintenance program. Extended battery and powertrain warranties are available with 10-year coverage instead of the standard three-year. There is also the company’s Eterna program which supplies replacement parts with customers’ new Battista for easier repair after an accident.
Battista with production specifications has been around for a long time. Automobili Pininfarina first teased potential clients during Monterey Car Week in 2018. At that time, the car was called the PF0.
