Imagine a 4×4 off-roader that doubles as your resting place after a day in the woods. It would have been a dream for adventure junkies, and now a reality thanks to the folks from Backwoods Camper Co.

Worn like a backpack in the back of a two-door Jeep Wrangler, the Backwoods Camper is made of fiberglass over a foam core structural panel. It’s said to be lightweight and durable, with the entire camper weighing just 500 pounds (227 kilograms) mounted on the trailer’s roof rack and hitch rack. Most importantly, it can be used in other SUVs that have a roof rack that can support the weight.

The Backwoods Camper adds so much utility and space to the Wrangler considering its size. In its basic form, the 84.5-inch (2.15-meter) cabin-over offers a California king bed (including mattress) atop the off-roader roof, complete with screened windows and skylight roof vents.

Beyond sleeping accommodations, the camper is 72 inches (1.8 m) wide and 84 inches (2.1 m) high offers optional kitchen utensils on the table, as well as storage compartments. You can even add a small bathroom, but don’t expect it to be roomy given the limited space. However, for an overnight off-road adventure, it should suffice.

The Backwoods Camper starts at $15,525 for the base model. Apart from the aforementioned inclusions, you’ll also get LED lighting inside the camper and exterior lights powered by a 12V battery, an adjustable receiver hitch rack, two camper jacks with extendable support legs, and a locking door with screen.

If you’re interested, you need to visit the company in Eagle Creek, Oregon to pick up a camper. The lead time is 3-4 weeks after the purchase agreement is signed and the $5,000 deposit has been made.
