In addition to working on the Audi Q6 E-Tron EV, this spy shot reveals that the brand is working on a Sportback version of its upcoming electric crossover. However, it’s hard to see well in this spy shot. The brand covers the vehicle in an extreme level of concealment.
The Audi development team covered the entire body with a black cover. There’s even a thin strip in the middle of the windshield that makes the car look like it’s wearing glasses.

There is an open cover on the side which shows the side of the vehicle. It seems that this crossover has a complete production speed body under fabric concealment.
Up front, the Q6 E-Tron appears to have the same nose as the standard model. Instead of the traditional latticework, there are panels with a faux mesh pattern embossed on top. The only actual opening is the trapezoidal area in the lower fascia.
The big difference for this model, like other Audi Sportback vehicles, is the slimmer roofline compared to the standard and boxier versions. While this sacrifices some cargo space, customers get a more coupe-like silhouette.
Previous spy shots provided a glimpse into the Q6 E-Tron’s camouflaged standard cabin. There is a large screen attached to the middle stack. It is separate from the instrument cluster.
The Q6 E-Tron will use the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture that will also underpin the upcoming Porsche Macan EV and Audi A6 E-Tron. There are no specific specifications on the available powertrain yet, but it is hoped that there will be single- and dual-motor layouts. There are also spy shots of the high-performance RS variant in development.
The standard Q6 E-Tron will debut this year and will go on sale sometime in 2023. We don’t expect the Sportback variant to launch at the same time. Look for a slightly longer premiere. Audi plans to offer a 20 EV range by 2025.
