It’s no secret that the current Toyota Supra uses a lot of BMW components, including the powertrain and infotainment system. This video shows how this Japanese sports coupe compares to the BMW M140i, which uses the same engine.
Neither of these vehicles is stock. The Supra has a cool air intake, turbo-rear Inconel exhaust and a remapped ECU. Its owners estimate the car makes about 460 horsepower (343 kilowatts), compared to the usual 335 hp (250 kW) for the UK model.

The M140i boasts 4.5-inch downpipes, an M Performance paint-back exhaust, and a stage 2 tune. It delivers a claimed output of 460 hp, which is also up from the standard 335 hp.
People started with drag races. The M140i had an early advantage, but then suffered a lot of wheel spin. This gave the Supra a chance to take the lead. Toyota pulled forward and won by about two cars.

They then returned to running the race. The result is the same. Smoke rises from the BMW’s wheels, and struggles for traction. Supra then accelerated and won by a larger margin than the first.
At its best, the Supra made it to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in 3.883 seconds and covered a quarter-mile time of 11.906 seconds. The M140i hits 60 mph in 4,324 seconds and completes the quarter mile in 12.218 seconds.
Next, they do a roll race of an unspecified speed. At first, the Supra spun near the red line, and the driver had to move immediately. This gives the M140i an immediate advantage. The two cars are very compatible. BMW managed to win by the nose.
They returned to running the race at a higher speed. This time, the Supra went fast. The BMW driver said he lifted just before the starting line.
They agreed to do this one more time. The competition is getting closer than ever. They are side by side for the entire distance. BMW barely excelled in the finish.
