Stock Suzuki Jimny Challenges Hummer H2 Modded In Off-Road Battle

This is an exciting off-road battle. Can the stock Suzuki Jimny perform as well (or better) than the modified Hummer H2 on the ground? This video attempts to answer that question.

The Jimny is the standard commercial version available in Europe. It has a 1.5 liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder making 101 horsepower (75 kilowatts) and 96 pound-feet (130 Newton-meters). There’s four-wheel drive and a five-speed manual with a transfer box that offers low-speed gears. This SUV wears standard all-season tires.

This will go up against the Hummer H2 which packs a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8. Factory specifications for the engine are 393 hp (293 kW) and 415 lb-ft (563 Nm). Power is channeled through a six-speed automatic transmission with a full-time all-wheel drive system. This one has a pair of side-exit exhausts on either side.

The H2 appears to be riding a raised suspension. It also has mud terrain tires.

There is a problem with H2. The buttons to activate the center and rear locking differentials don’t seem to work. This helps the Jimny’s chances in the challenge.

First, there is a drag race on a steep incline. In low range, the Jimny slid up the hill while the H2 slowly crawled up the incline.

Next, they raced around the short track. The road is narrow, and the bends are narrow. Hummer had to stop and make a three-point turn to qualify. Jimny had no such problems and scored another win.

The driver must then see which one is going downhill the slowest. Apart from having issues with the discrepancy, the Hummer’s hillside control system doesn’t seem to work either. Without being able to use the brakes, H2 gave Jimny an easy win.

They then had to climb up and then down a broken path. On the way down, the Jimny had the first problem when the suspension dropped.

A very big challenge is climbing a steep hill with loose rocks on the trail. It takes H2 three tries and a long run to be successful. The Jimny took four attempts, but driver error was part of the problem.

It will be interesting to see if the results will be different if the Hummer fixes the mechanical problems.
