Ford is gearing up to launch a new Super Duty pickup that gives the truck a new style and other updates. A series of new spy shots have caught the test of the big pickup, and it appears to be the XLT trim, which differs from the Lariat variant seen late last month.
While both trucks sport a lot of camouflage, neither hides their grille, so it’s pretty easy to see the difference in design. The Lariat grille extends above the headlights, while the grille on the XLT looks more traditional, with large yellow headlights adorning the square black grille and a large hidden blue oval badge. The photos also show the truck with a new bedside step on the rear fender.

The truck also sports XLT gear like black plastic mirrors, fog lamps, chrome wheels and base headlights. The Tuck will receive a radical redesign with new fenders, a new hood, new bumper and restyled headlights. However, the changes at the rear are minimal from what we can see, although we wish Ford had added LED taillights.
Exterior updates should coincide with interior overhauls, which are becoming more common among automakers looking to keep their cars tech-savvy. Super Duty should be no different, with the pickup reportedly receiving some of the technology and features from the new F-150. That means Super Duty could receive a bigger infotainment display.
While the new Super Duty will get a radical redesign, the basics are reportedly unchanged. That means the current engines – the 6.2-liter V8, 7.3-liter V8, and the 6.7-liter V8 turbo-diesel – will carry over, with a lot of paring with the TorqShift 10-speed automatic gearbox. There are rumors that the 6.7-liter turbo V8 diesel engine might get a slight boost in power.
We don’t know when Ford will reveal the new truck, but the official debut will be this fall. The sticker on the back reads, “MY 23,” which likely indicates this is a model year 2023. The current-generation Super Duty arrived for the 2017 model year. Ford introduced the Super Duty in 1999, and the truck is currently in its fourth generation.
