Who Needs a Home When You Can Sleep In A Toyota GR86?

A sports car is far from a practical choice, but it makes a huge difference if we talk about a car with a 2+2 seating layout. As is the case with the Toyota GR86, which is surprisingly big enough for a Japanese YouTuber to spend the night even “camping” in an empty parking lot. Naturally, the first order of business was to create a flat surface on which to lay the bedding and bag.

He even brought all the tools and materials needed to prepare a “luxury dinner” without getting out of his car. The GR86’s interior is large enough to store a wide variety of items, including a cooler bag, a wooden desk he made himself, along with a few LED lights. Privacy was a concern when spending the night in the car, but she thought of that too by closing all the windows in custom-made shades.

Of course, it all depends on how tall you are as the GR86’s cabin is quite cramped and therefore less than ideal for a large person to sleep in. As a refresher, Toyota’s second generation sports car is only 4,265 millimeters (167.9 inches) long, with a wheelbase of 2,575 mm (101.4 inches). Even so, the YouTuber is determined to prove the adage “You can sleep in the car, but you can’t race at home” is true.

Since this is Japan, keep in mind that there are several minivans based on kei cars being sold in the Land of the Rising Sun. While they’re much smaller in that they can’t be more than 3.4 meters (133.8 inches) in length, they’re still a lot more roomy to spend the night with thanks to their boxy bodies compared to the swooping GR86 and its tiny trunk.

Even so, the YouTuber decided to stick with his RWD sports coupe and you have to respect that. Check out his channel and you’ll see another video with him living in an enclosed amusement park with a quad-piped GR86. He went camping in a remote area by setting up a tent and making a bonfire.
