Replacement Lamborghini Aventador Spyed!

About a year ago, Lamborghini launched the Aventador Ultimae as the final chapter in the Aventador’s decade-long history. Now is the time for the supercar automaker to turn the page and start working on a new successor to its flagship product. Development is now underway and we have a new spy photo to share with you, showing a fully disguised prototype.

The shape of this test car screams Lamborghini and even a small child should be able to easily recognize that this is indeed a vehicle from Sant’Agata Bolognese. It’s far from wearing all parts of its production, although there are possible shapes and lines in their final production form.

Starting with the front, the small LED daytime running lights are just a temporary unit as this car doesn’t actually have any other headlights on the front. Camouflage suggests a sharp lighting cluster with a more aggressive and narrow shape compared to the Aventador.

At the back, Lamborghini tries to trick us with stickers that mimic actual taillights, but the reality is the real cluster is hiding underneath. Judging from what we see, the taillights will be Y-shaped and will have a very sleek design. We also get to see an attractive rear spoiler with trapezoidal elements above the quad exhaust system that sits high on the rear fascia.

That big pipe is most likely connected to the V12 engine as Lamborghini has confirmed that the Aventador replacement will rely on a factory 12 cylinder. This will be the brand’s only new V12 engine and will definitely feature some sort of electrification. It’s too early to speculate on its power, but we expect the new unit to be more powerful than the V12 Aventador Ultimae with 770 horsepower (566 kilowatts) and 531 pound-feet (720 Newton-meters) of torque.

Lamborghini may be in the midst of testing work that needs to be done before the Aventador replacement is ready to hit the market. We hope to see the full model next year and we think we will have a few more opportunities to analyze various prototype tests on public roads.
