The Kamiq made its official debut in February 2019 as Skoda’s smallest crossover for the European market. It’s now in its fourth year on the market and a facelift seems to be on its way to keeping the model fresh for another two to three years in showrooms. We have the first spy photos showing some significant visual revisions to the front end, though none of the really major ones.
A new Kamiq prototype is seen being tested on a public road in Austria pulling a small trailer. This is a typical move for the Czech manufacturer who often evaluates upcoming products under heavy load with a trailer attached. The trial car has camouflage covering the front end and we can already see some of the changes planned.

It starts with a bolder overall look for the front fascia with a new grille and a more prominent front bumper with revamped air intakes. It looks like the Kamiq will keep the headlight design separate, though the disguise creates a deceptive look and there may be secrets lurking beneath. Depending on the trim level, we expect a different design for the lower bumper with the Scout grade getting scuff plates made of aluminum.
Changes at the rear are less significant. We see a new internal design for the taillights that will not change in terms of the overall shape. The bumper could get minor tweaks but in general, the rear fascia will remain largely unchanged.
The same can be expected for the engine under the hood as it was reported on the road that this will be carried without any significant modifications. Optimization can be expected to a large extent in terms of the exhaust gas filtration system as Europe gets more stringent emission standards. A new powertrain doesn’t seem very likely at the moment but it’s not completely out of the game.
Skoda’s updated launch schedule for the Kamiq is a secret to us, but we assume it won’t be long until we see a facelifted crossover on the way. Our bet is a release before the end of the year.
