2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 Final Teaser Announces Design Reveal June 29

In a sea of ​​crossovers and SUVs, it’s refreshing to see a good old sedan have a future in the electric age. The Ioniq 6 couldn’t have come sooner, it was previewed in March 2020 by the gorgeous Prophecy concept. While it won’t look quite as smooth as the previous show car, teasers released in the last few days have us believe that the production model won’t be a bland three-box sedan. Come June 29th, the designs will be fully revealed.

Meanwhile, Hyundai sneaked in one final teaser image of its Tesla Model 3 competitor. It features a nice front fascia with pixelated LED daytime running lights and a subtle front bumper design to help with aerodynamics and achieve a wider reach. Other previews have shown the Ioniq 6’s coupe-style roofline and wide third brake light sporting a now-familiar pixel theme.

With more and more countries starting to approve side cameras for road cars, the Ioniq 6 will also ditch the traditional rearview mirror. This should contribute to better airflow, further enhanced by the door handles that will stay flush with the body when not in use. Of course, we’ve already seen these features on the Ioniq 5, which has a Cd of 0.288. Logic tells us that the sedan will have a lower number because it will not be as high as the crossover.

Hyundai says only the full design will be presented tomorrow, so we’ll likely have to wait a little longer for the technical specifications. It is believed the Ioniq 6 has been stretched two centimeters (0.8 inches) from what was originally intended for better aero. We have heard through the grapevine that the bumper has been completely redesigned as well for the same reason. To maximize range, a larger-than-planned 77.4 kWh battery pack will be installed. Inside, the digital instrument cluster bezel and infotainment touchscreen are slimmer compared to the Ioniq 6.

Series production at the Asan Plant in South Korea reportedly began in July, so first deliveries to customers are expected before the end of the year. At launch, the most expensive version will have dual electric motors, all-wheel drive and around 300 horsepower.
