With the facelifted M2, Series 3/M3 Touring, M4 CSL, and XM all coming this year, it’s understandable some of us forgot the X5/X5 M was going to get a bite and a tuck. This spy shot serves as a reminder that the midsize luxury SUV will get a facelift in the second half of 2022. While the front bumper is still largely camouflaged, BMW doesn’t do a good job of covering it up. We can easily see that it has been completely redesigned to accommodate a more upright air intake. The new look immediately makes us think of the latest 2 Series Coupe, but with bigger vents to match the X5’s larger footprint. The air curtain on the side of the bumper is surprisingly large and should have an important impact on reducing fuel consumption by reducing drag.
