Ford surpassed last year’s Very Gay Ranger with the new Very Gay Raptor. True to its name, this truck uses the latest generation Ranger Raptor and is clad in a Pride flag rainbow body and shimmering gold accents. The truck will be part of a special presentation at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
In addition to running up the hill there, the Very Gay Ranger cargo bed will set the stage for a session Ford calls “The Hard Talk.” Welsh rugby player Gareth Thomas, who is gay, is discussing how the auto industry can be more inclusive and foster alliances for the LGBTQ+ community. Guests included racer Abbie Eaton, comedian Catherine Bohart and Lord March.

Ford has yet to debut the latest Ranger version for the United States. The company confirmed that it and a version of the Raptor will be coming in 2023. Their production will take place at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne.
For Europe, the Raptor makes 288 horsepower (215 kilowatts) and 362 pound-feet (491 Newton-meters) of torque from a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. Elsewhere, the same model produces 392 hp (292 kW) and 430 lb-ft (583 Nm).
The original Very Gay Ranger was a project from Ford of Germany for Christopher Street Day celebrations in Cologne. Its origins are someone on social media calling the automaker’s Performance Blue color “very gay.” The company decided to turn homophobic complaints into something worth celebrating by building a rainbow-and-gold pickup.
The Very Gay Ranger is also a tribute to the rainbow-colored Ford Ka pickup conversion Ford made for Christopher Street Day in Cologne in 1998.
In the United States, Ford is celebrating Pride Month this year by building the Ford Bronco Wildtrak in the same rainbow and gold color scheme as the Very Gay Ranger and Very Gay Raptor. The company debuted at the Memphis Pride Fest in June.
