When it comes to luxury convertibles with massive 12-cylinder engines in the hood, there’s a tough fight coming from the UK. We’re talking Rolls-Royce Dawn and Bentley Continental GTC Speed – and they’re ready for drag racing, thanks to carwow.
If you are in the market for these cars, knowing which one is faster is not a selling point. They are not built for speed but for driving in extreme luxury. But that doesn’t mean that these heavyweights are lazy about putting their spec sheets side by side for comparison.

Sitting atop the recently introduced Bentley Continental GTC S, the Continental GTC Speed is the best. The car is powered by a 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 engine that produces 650 horsepower (485 kilowatts) and 664 pound-feet (900 Newton-meters) of torque.
Meanwhile, the Rolls-Royce Dawn uses a 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 engine sourced from BMW to produce 563 hp (420 kW) and 605 lb-ft (820 Nm) of traction. Both land cruisers send these numbers to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, with the Bentley using a DCT instead of a conventional torque converter.
Despite these huge numbers, let’s keep in mind that these two cars come with a lot of leather, wood and other luxury features that make up for their enormous weight. That said, the Continental GTC Speed is lighter than the Dawn by 273 pounds (124 kilograms), which should be a problem given the difference in power output between these heavy machines.
