Pagani has created the Huayra Codalunga, the long-tail variant of its coveted supercar. Pagani built it at the behest of two clients who work with the company’s Grandi Complicazioni department, which specializes in one-off models and limited models to build new cars. The new Huayra Codalunga is very limited, with Pagani producing only five examples, all of which have already been sold.
This car is inspired by the Le Mans longtail racer of the 1960s. The two clients approached Pagani in 2018 about a longtail variant, working with the company for more than two years to finalize the styling concept. Pagani then makes quarter scale and full size models to show clients before starting production.

The result is the Huayra Codalunga. Pagani poured extensive resources into the project to ensure it complied with global regulations, which required a lot of work for just five cars. The large rear engine cover hides a powerful V12 that produces 840 horsepower (617 kilowatts) and 811 pound-feet (1,100 Newton-meters) of torque.
The Pagani lacks a rear grille at the rear, revealing a ceramic-coated titanium exhaust system that weighs just 9.7 pounds (4.4 kilograms). It ends up in Pagani’s trademark quad exhaust. The lightweight exhaust helps keep curb weight down to just 2,822 lbs (1,290 kg). That’s a lot of power in this lightweight supercar, which uses advanced composite materials for the bodywork.
Pagani chooses to use only semi-matter or fully matte paints in neutral colors. Inside, there are leather/nubuck seats and machined aluminum components. The interior is intricate and elegant.
Each of the five tailor-made Pagani Huayra Codalunga tails has an owner who paid at least €7 million for it ($7.4 at today’s exchange rates). Pagani didn’t say when the owners would receive their car, but the project is now in its fourth year, so we imagine they’re the patient type. The new Codalunga follows the special Huayra NC that Pagani introduced late last month. Pagani is also preparing a new generation of supercars.
