The BMW M3 Touring is officially the fastest carriage ever on the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a time of 7 minutes and 35,060 seconds. It takes the title from the Mercedes-AMG E63 S with a time of 7 minutes 45 seconds. The video above shows the M3 development crew getting ready for a run footage and the driver pushing the vehicle around the track.
The M3 Touring doesn’t officially debut until June 23 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It even ran up the hill there.

While we can’t know for sure until its launch, all the rumors suggest that the M3 Touring uses the same 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six engine as the sedan. The output is likely equal to 503 horsepower (375 kilowatts) and 479 pound-feet (650 Newton-meters).
Buyers will reportedly only get the M3 Touring with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. There is no sign of a manual gearbox or rear-drive layout available for the wagon.
Judging from the previous promotional video, the M3 Touring has revised suspension tuning compared to the sedan.
In this video, there are several views inside the vehicle. Some fabric covers the dashboard, but there’s no sign of any major changes. The biggest difference is the extended roof which increases the rear cargo volume.
The situation is similar on the outside. The vehicle sports camouflage, but it looks like BMW hasn’t made any major styling changes to differentiate the wagon from the sedan – other than the roof design.
Before anyone in the United States gets excited about the prospect of owning an M3 with a wagon body, there’s bad news. The automaker has already said this variant is not coming to the US. The reason for the decision was that homologation of different body styles would be too expensive for this particular product.
