Almost a year ago, Aston Martin revealed a track-only version of the Valkyrie hypercar in production form – the Valkyrie Pro. The Pro doesn’t use the electric motors of its road-going counterpart but still produces a healthy amount of power – along with an eargasmic exhaust note.
The reputation of the Valkyrie Pro ear candy was evident when visiting a track in Bahrain last March. And now, British hypercars are setting foot on American soil – specifically at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. YouTuber Speed Phenomenon gave us a preview of that track day, while Air Automotive have the opportunity to ride one to ride-along.
In both cases, the Valkyrie Pro sings noteworthy exhaust notes. Whether in the hypercar or outside during a flyby, the track-only hypercar sounds great even while recording – especially when it’s in metal.
The power of the Valkyrie Pro comes from its naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine. In the production version, the large engine spins up to 11,000 rpm and produces up to 1,000 horsepower. These big figures are paired with a lightweight body, thanks to a full carbon fiber body and carbon suspension wishbones. The Perspex windshield and side windows also help in the Valkyrie Pro diet.
Aston Martin also touts the amount of downforce its track toys have. In fact, it has twice the downforce of the road version when equipped with the extreme aero package, which allows lateral acceleration over 3G. As you can see in the travel videos, it is a unique experience.
