With Alfa Romeo turning to the electrification of its SUV, the Giulia will not go unnoticed. Before adopting a battery-powered system, Alfa Romeo gave the sedan a refresh – and a prototype has already been spotted on the road. Walter Vayr on Facebook.
However, don’t expect revolutionary changes in terms of design. In fact, the Alfa didn’t even bother to cover up much of the bodywork except for a few details on the grille, headlights, and lower intakes. We were expecting a few minutes of rework here and there but nothing extensive. As far as a facelift is concerned, it’s more or less like that.

That’s because the refresh was done just to keep the Giulia fresh before its inevitable plunge into the EV market. For the uninitiated, Alfa Romeo has confirmed that the next-generation Giulia will be an all-electric model. Details of the EV sedan’s future are scarce at this time.
For the record, Alfa Romeo has confirmed that it will be an EV-only brand by 2027, so introducing a new generation with an internal combustion engine would not make sense in this timeframe.
That said, this facelifted Giulia will likely be the last iteration before the Alfa EV era.
Alfa’s venture into the EV market comes with a strengthening in the SUV segment. The Tonale has been introduced as a model under Stelvio. A smaller crossover will be introduced under the Tonale under the Brennero name, confirmed to debut in 2024. An electric version of this high-riding model is underway.
The focus may be on electrification and SUVs, but you can expect a facelifted Giulia in 2023. If you’re a fan of rival BMW 3 Series, here’s your last chance to buy a brand new one without a charging port.
