According to the report, Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna will announce the automaker’s EV plans and strategy. Vigna will detail the company’s business plan for the next four years, which should include the launch of its first EV in 2025. Ferrari originally planned to launch its first EV sometime in 2025, but that timeline changed in early 2021.
Months after stepping up its EV launch, Ferrari announced that it had appointed Vigna as its new CEO, who has spent decades working in the tech industry. He spent 26 years at STMicroelectronics, and it is this experience that Ferrari hopes will help the company navigate the electric future. Earlier this year, Vigna announced a major overhaul to the company’s organizational structure.
Ferrari’s first fully electric vehicle is years away, but a patent filing from February gives an idea of the possibilities. The filing reveals that Ferrari has designed a chassis that can accommodate both a hybrid and electric powertrain for its sports car, with the passenger compartment sitting above the battery pack.
