Upcoming Cadillac GT4 Luxury Crossover Leaked In China

[ad_1]

Cadillac Society has been keeping an eye on a mysterious subcompact luxury crossover prototype that Cadillac has been testing for the past few months. At first, we were told by sources that the new crossover would sport the XT3 nameplate, but now we’ve learned that it will be called the Cadillac GT4, thanks to patent images leaked in China.

Patent images of the so-called Cadillac GT4 give us our first look at the upcoming B-segment luxury crossover. So far, there aren’t many details about the vehicle, but we do know that it is powered by the Cadillac E2 platform, which is also found under the Cadillac XT4.

The GT4 nameplate expands the luxury brand naming convention for its portfolio, which currently uses “CT” as the prefix for sedans and “XT” for crossovers. Meanwhile, the GT4 will be the third vehicle to use the “4” suffix, after the CT4 and XT4.

The leaked patent images depict renderings of the GT4’s body from multiple angles and in two trim levels. One has chrome grille inserts, possibly indicating a Luxury or Premium Luxury trim level, while the other features the black grille treatment found on the Sport model. The proportions of the all-new GT4 are similar to other vehicles in its competitive segment, such as the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class and BMW X2.

In addition, the front bears a special resemblance to the Cadillac CT5 luxury sedan, with narrow horizontal headlights mounted on either side of the inner polygonal grille flanked by vertical daylight assemblies. That theme carries over to the rear of the vehicle, which features a set of angled taillamp assemblies integrated via chrome trim pieces, similar to what is currently seen on the XT6 and even the Cadillac Lyriq.

The crossover’s name is inscribed on the chrome trim elements that appear at the junction between the C and D pillar trim levels.

The Cadillac GT4 is set to debut later this year in China, where it will be assembled at the Dong Yue factory. Under the hood, the car will feature a new 1.5L I4 turbocharged engine from the luxury marque, with a higher trim level featuring a turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY). At this time, we are not aware of any plans to offer the Cadillac GT4 outside of China.
