Mystery Machine Van Is a Groovy Airbnb Hosted By Shaggy Himself

[ad_1]

Mystery Machine goes from cartoon to reality in live action Scooby-Doo movies from the early 2000s. The studio celebrated when the first film hit theaters in 2002 by offering a chance to stay in the iconic TV car. This has been converted to an Airbnb hosted by Scooby-Doo veteran Matthew Lillard himself as the film celebrates its 20th anniversary.

Scooby-Doo fans will recognize the name. Not only do it Lillard played Shaggy in the live-action films, but he also took over roles in TV shows and animated films in 2010, following in the footsteps of voice actor Casey Kasem who originally played the character.

The tricked AirBnB, a converted Chevy van, looks just like the real thing thanks to the iconic teal, orange, and green colors that Mystery Engines have worn for decades. Inside, you won’t find Scooby Snacks, but there’s a bed for two, and a number of new touches that will take camping back to at least 2002, when the first live-action Scooby-Doo hits cinema. There’s a Sugar Ray album on the CD player and a lava lamp ready to set the mood.

Guests will get all-you-can-eat snacks, including some Shaggy and Scooby favorites like the eggplant burger. There will also be a late night rerun of 2002 Scooby-Doo. Popcorn and candy included. If you want to spread out, there is lounge seating and space for a hammock, and Lillard will offer a virtual greeting on arrival.

It The Mystery Machine is only available for three one-night stays starts on June 24, and campers only have to pay $20 for the night, plus taxes and fees. If you want to stay in the Mystery Machine, you have to be fast. Reservations open Thursday, June 16, at 1 p.m. ET. The van was only available for these three nights, and then the offer was gone for good. This helped celebrate the film’s 20th anniversary. If you’re lucky enough to book lodging, you’ll be responsible for your own travel to and from Southern California, so keep that in mind.
